Typing slowly
under review
Daniel Dees
When i was typing out a message,it lags behind a lot. like i type in several words at a time it freezes. this was on a longer chat,so i tried a smaller one. after 10 or so back-and-forth between the AI,it began to lag. the rest works,just the typing was bad. i thought it was something wrong with my RAM,but i dont have a lot open.
Daniel Dees
https://poe.com/ ,another AI platform,types faster then this junk here. i am considering swapping over to this improved AI due to this fatal glitch in yours.
Daniel Dees
Firthermore, during type delays,i am occasionally able to still scroll down or up while waiting for the chatbox to chatch up.

With posts of 20 posts or more it gets so slow that Google says "bruh the webpage is unresponsive" at me. it happened before with like 50 posts (immersive fictional worlds of mine) but now it wuold have a several-miniute delay (enough to possibly turn on the TV and listen to a short)

that bug is setting the webpage basically useless...
Daniel Dees
syhms ai It is ceritanly limiting its functionality. but it is still "useable," up untill a point where the typing delay gets astronomical. a chat with 8 posts back and forth is causing a typing delay of five seconds.

Context on the slow down...
I'm on a fast computer and do not experience any typing delays in any other app or web page. Only the you.com page is slow. I'm a fast typist. I can type a full sentence, and the you.com chat box doesn't display my text for THREE seconds. I'm on a Mac using Microsoft Edge (which is the same core code as Safari and Chrome).
If I do the same in a private window then typing speed is normal. I tried disabling extensions in the normal window, but that didn't help. I tried Safari in the default configuration, which I never use, and it was not slow. I did not test Chrome as it's no longer installed (Google cannot be trusted)down. .
There's something about how the browser is configured that is causing the extreme slow down. It's also important to note this does not happen for me on any other website. I'll keep looking into this to see if I can narrow down a cause.

Joel Midden how to reproduce
I logged out of my account, and tried typing. It's normal with no slow down.
I logged back into my account and typed into a new chat thread. That was also normal.
I selected an existing chat thread with a lot of history and that was slow.
The problem is related to using a thread with history.
UPDATE (after some debugging)
I see this call chain. It looks like that's causing the slow downs. Each keystroke is taking 190ms.
Event:keypress
+Event:beforeinput
++Event:input
+++Layout
++++Recalculate style
++++Function call into React "nD(e, n, t, r"
That goes down a long call chain, into framework-d21c83c13ce9007b.js "ak(e, n, t, r, l, a)"
That function is consuming most of the time, calling even more functions.

Jim Reekes Great Job of debugging the code! it looks like you have gotten it to a technical level where the devs can simply fix the errors in those functions!

Just simple modern day curses of ultra bloat clueless web "developers".

Kindle Humpback I found a lot of JS running on the page, from many different vendors (some commercial and some from github). I think there's a keypress monitor running for some reason, and that's bogging down when there's history in the session. Just a guess...I think it's trying to redo the page's layout/style on every stroke. Maybe not, but there is code watching every key stroke and it goes slow when there's more history in the session.
EdDiboi
I experienced this as well, Im on a pretty fast computer
Daniel Dees
EdDiboi Pretty fast PC and still broken?! looks like an issue with the server itself being unable to process longer conversations!
Markus Zeller
I experienced the same when having chat with a few answers. It is getting slower the more conversion. (Using within Brave Browser Desktop)
Daniel Dees
Markus Zeller I got the same. the more i chat the slower it gets!

Report: Now whenever i am typing a lot at once, the entire website becomes unresponsive! it cuold be my dumb RAM, but i dont know......
Daniel Dees
I cant provide a screen video, but i can see why super-fast NASA PC's used by AI people can be so fast it does not reproduce the bug. for optimal recreation,use a Virtual Machine with 3 GHz of processing and 8 GB of RAM. maybe then you can reproduce the issue! make sure the processing cores allocated is 4-i have that many cores in my own CPU unit. this way you can see if it is just my dang PC or something jacked with the system.
