Create Your Own Browser
Guy Traittel
You should create a futuristic browser like Arc or SigmaOS. Lots of people are leaving Chrome and Firefox so this is your chance to step in and make a browser.

Are you guys gonna have something like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge? I would like a browser, something like that. That would be really cool!

Desktop client with MCP support

This would take the product to a different level and make it much more useful, especially if the installation process of MCP Servers is simplified (catalog...)

Create a Desktop App

Make an app for Mac OS in the App store because for some reason some text and numbers seem to glitch and syntax does not process properly in browser. On the iOS app it works just fine.

It would be useful to have a native desktop app with support for MCP as claude does and chatgpt will

I honestly don't see good reasons or benefits to let the team create another app (at least not with the amount of resources this binds vs. the possible gained results).
Also, I don't think the world needs another website bundled as a bloated electron application just for the sake of calling it a desktop app.
If you feel the need to have You as a separate window/app you can use the feature of your browser to install any website as an app, so it opens in an own fullscreen window and you get an app icon on your desktop.
This example is for chrome, but all other major browsers support that too.

Make it possible to use YouChat without switching windows / tabs
q6SAF
I often want to ask YouChat about things related to a piece of content I am looking at in the browser (e.g. article, paper, video) or something that I am working on. I would like to stay focused in these situations so it would be great to be able to use YouChat without having to open a new tab in the browser. Because opening a new tab is a mental context switch that makes it harder to stay focused. It would be very helpful to be able to open a chat in a small side window like it's possible with the extension for Perplexity AI. This is a great way to get quick answers to something that allows to you seamlessly continue working on a task when you got your answer.
Another great option to address this would be a desktop app that is a small window that one can pull into context whenever it's needed.

Windows Or Mac Native App
M
Max Navarrette
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I believe it's time for You.com to develop a native application for Windows or macOS that includes all the features of the web version. Recently, I was unexpectedly blocked by Cloudflare while I was in the middle of preparing for my next term, which involves multiple courses and a heavy course load. Unfortunately, this occurred while the entire You.com staff was on holiday.
I went through the process of contacting support to get unblocked, but I’m left wondering when I might be blocked again or if the web version of You.com will encounter issues again. Having a native app would be incredibly helpful in case the web service goes down, especially since there might be times when I urgently need access.
