Hello You.com team,
I’d like to request a new capability for You.com Agents: dynamic file sources that stay up to date without having to delete and re-upload files.
Current challenge:
  • When I attach files (including from Google Drive or OneDrive), they are ingested as static copies (often PDFs). Any edits made later in the original document are not reflected in the agent, which forces me to remove and re-upload the file to keep the agent current.
Proposed enhancement:
  • Allow agents to link to cloud documents (e.g., Google Docs) and, on each use or at a configurable interval, check for relevant updates and refresh the ingested content automatically.
  • A “Refresh” button and/or an automatic sync schedule (e.g., on run, hourly, daily) would be ideal. Webhook or event-based sync (when the document changes) would be even better.
  • Provide version awareness (last synced timestamp, change summary) and granular controls (which sections to index, max update frequency, access scopes).
Key benefits:
  • Always-current knowledge for task-specific agents without manual file maintenance.
  • Better reliability for workflows that depend on evolving documents (policies, specs, project notes, SOPs).
  • Reduced operational overhead and fewer errors from out-of-date sources.
Representative use cases:
  • Project documentation and SOPs that change frequently and must drive accurate, up-to-date agent responses.
  • Research notes and knowledge bases in Google Docs that need to remain synchronized for ongoing analysis.
  • Team environments where multiple collaborators update shared documents, and agents should reflect those updates immediately or on a schedule.
Security and implementation considerations:
Use OAuth-scoped access (read-only) with clear consent and revocation.
Allow per-document permissions and explicit linking rather than broad-drive indexing.
Provide admin controls and audit logs for enterprise/teams.
Thank you for considering this enhancement. It would significantly increase the utility of You.com Agents for dynamic, collaborative workflows. I’m happy to share more details or participate in user testing.
Best regards,
Jordi Riera
