Chat branching like in ChatGPT
Pratik Pakhale
Can we have chat branching so that we can go off to a different topic and then come back again to the same context?
I'm not sure about the technical feasibility (seems complex as the data must be stored in form of embeddings all together), but I believe this can be a game changer.

This is my most used feature on ChatGPT, and it's currently why I'm using ChatGPT more than you.com. I'm back when this is implemented!!

The ability to edit previous messages / posts in a chat is the main thing keeping me from choosing You.com over some other options. Please add this feature!

Prompt refinement / Iterative refinement in YouChat Interface
Philippe Valentine
Dear You.com Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I have encountered with the prompt refinement functionality in your chat interface.
<Issue Description>
Currently, users are unable to refine their prompts by editing and resending them. Instead, resending an edited prompt creates a new prompt, while the original, undesirable prompt remains in the chat window. This behavior disrupts the continuity of the conversation and makes it challenging to refine prompts effectively.
<Why this matters>
Prompt refinement is crucial for iterative query development. I will demonstrate with an example.
If a user makes a mistake, such as a typo, in a specific prompt it, say prompt 12 for exemple, they cannot correct it directly. Instead, they must send a new prompt (e.g., prompt 13), which retains the faulty prompt 12 in the conversation history. This will lead to confusion and misinterpretation by the AI and the user will need to start a new session and start over. This undermines one core very important part of AI, which is iterative refinement.
<Why it matters>
• Continuity Disruption: The inability to refine prompts directly disrupts the logical flow of the conversation.
• Misinterpretation: Faulty prompts can lead to incorrect responses from the AI, affecting the overall quality of the interaction.
• Inefficiency: Users may need to start over to maintain a coherent query chain, which is time-consuming and inefficient.
<The humble implementation suggestion>
This is just a humble suggestion from my side. Implement a feature that allows users to edit and resend prompts, replacing the original prompt in the chat history. This would ensure that the conversation remains coherent and that the AI can provide accurate and relevant responses based on the refined prompts.
Thank you for taking the time. I believe that addressing this will improve the user experience on your platform even further.
I wish you all the best on YouChat platform.
